Diploma in ophthalmic technology is a 3 year diploma program designed to build a trained and qualified professional who assist ophthalmologists in order to diagnose and treat patients. An innovative curriculum of this programme will enable students to get requisite skills for carrying out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are standard in ophthalmology.
The scope of Optometry includes the detection of common eye diseases, the management of binocular vision problems such as squints and lazy eyes and the prescription of spectacles and contact lenses. The Diploma in Optometry is a programme that aims to produce professionally competent optometrists serving as primary eye care health practitioners.
Well-designed programme curriculum; qualified and experienced members of the faculty supported by rigorous hands; on training in areas such as examining patients, basic treatment of vision problems; work on eye testing and other ophthalmic equipment; monitoring patients, prescribing and dispensing spectacles and contact lenses and optometry practices.
- The completed person can get appointed as Ophthalmic Technologist in various Govt & Private Eye Hospitals.
- They can also appointed as Ophthalmic Assistant in Eye Hospitals for the assistance during the Eye Surgeries.
- They can open own ophthalmic (Spect/glass) shop.
- They can also appointed as Sales Marketing Officer for many Medical and Diagnostic Equipments, Reagents, Medicines, and etc.
- This course is approved for the ophthalmic technologist job in Govt. and Private sectors throughout the India.
- This course is also approved for the ophthalmic technologist Job in abroad.
Higher Education
- After completion of the course they can go for higher education Regular as well as in distance education like B Sc in OT, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Perfusion Technology, Cathlab, CBZ & etc. and further they can also go for respective M Sc and PHD.
Eligibility
- Pass in S.S.L.C / X std or Equivalent Examination or II PUC / XII Std Under Science such as PCB, PCMB, CBZ or any other equivalent qualifications.
Course Duration
- 3 years Plus 3 months internship for S.S.L.C / X std students or 2 years Plus 3 months internship for II PUC (science) / XII students

DOT 2nd YEAR
- Paper-I : ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF EYE AND ORBIT, PHYSICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL OPTICS, PRACTICE OF REFRACTION, RETINOSCOPY.
- Paper-II : COMMAN EYE DISEASES, CATERACT, GLUCOMA, SQUENT, SYSTEMIC DISEASES, MICROBIOLOGY, PATHOLOGY & PHARMACOLOGY.
DOT 3rd YEAR
- Paper-I : NURSING CARE OF OPHTHALMIC PATINTS, OPHTHALMIC INSTRUMENTS, DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTS, OCULAR SURGERY FUNDAMENTALS AND ASSISTANCE TECHNIQUES OF MINOR SURGERY.
